The Can-Am Maverick X3 and Polaris RZR Pro XP are two of the most popular performance UTVs on the market. If you're shopping for parts and accessories, you might wonder: are any parts interchangeable between these two platforms? The short answer is some, but not most. Here's a detailed breakdown.
Platform Differences
These two machines are fundamentally different in design philosophy and dimensions:
Can-Am Maverick X3: 72" wide, 102" wheelbase (X3 X RS), 195 HP turbocharged Rotax triple. Known for its long-travel suspension and aggressive geometry. The X3's roll cage uses a unique mounting system with wider dimensions than most competitors.
Polaris RZR Pro XP: 64" wide, 90" wheelbase, 181 HP turbocharged ProStar twin. Polaris uses their proprietary cage design with different tube diameters and mounting points than Can-Am.
These dimensional differences mean most cab accessories (windshields, roofs, doors) are NOT cross-compatible.
What's Universal (Works on Both)
Wheels
Both the Maverick X3 and RZR Pro XP use standard 4/137 bolt patterns with 12mm x 1.5 lug studs. This means wheels are fully interchangeable between the two platforms. However, offset and width may differ — verify that the specific wheel won't cause rubbing with your suspension setup.
Tires
Tires are universal as long as the size matches your wheels and doesn't cause clearance issues. The X3 runs larger stock tires (30") vs the RZR Pro XP (29"), so keep that in mind when swapping.
Winches
Winch mechanisms are universal — any standard UTV winch works on either machine. However, the mounting plates are NOT universal. You'll need a model-specific winch mount that bolts to your specific frame/bumper.
LED Light Bars
Light bars themselves are universal. A 40" curved LED bar works on anything. But the mounting brackets are model-specific since cage tube diameters and roof profiles differ between platforms.
Harnesses & Safety Gear
4-point and 5-point harnesses are universal. Seat mounts are NOT — you'll need model-specific seat brackets if replacing factory seats.
Recovery Gear
Tow straps, shackles, recovery boards, and D-rings are universal across all UTVs.
What's NOT Compatible
Windshields & Cab Enclosures
Due to completely different cage dimensions and mounting points, windshields are 100% model-specific. A Maverick X3 windshield will NOT fit a RZR Pro XP and vice versa. Always verify your exact make, model, and year when ordering.
Roofs
Roofs are model-specific. The X3's wider cage and different mounting hole patterns make cross-compatibility impossible.
Doors
Doors are engineered for specific cage profiles and hinge points. Not interchangeable.
Bumpers
Bumpers bolt to specific frame mounting points that differ between manufacturers. A Can-Am bumper won't bolt onto a Polaris frame.
Suspension Components
Suspension — shocks, A-arms, springs, and sway bars are all model-specific. Different geometries, mounting points, and spring rates make cross-compatibility impossible.
Exhaust Systems
Exhaust systems are engine and chassis-specific. The X3's triple-cylinder and the RZR's twin-cylinder have completely different exhaust routing and mounting.
Skid Plates
Frame-mounted protection follows the specific frame contours of each machine. Not interchangeable.
Shopping Tips
1. Always verify fitment. "Universal" doesn't always mean "fits everything." Read the fine print.
2. Check model years carefully. Both Can-Am and Polaris update cage dimensions and mounting points between model years. A 2020 X3 part may not fit a 2024 X3.
3. Don't assume brand = compatibility. Even within Polaris, a RZR XP 1000 part often won't fit a RZR Pro XP.
